Today was certainly calmer than yesterday, in fact perhaps too calm. You need wind to allow the shearwaters and petrels to fly rather than sit on the water. If they sit, they’re hard to see. In any event, there were no new year-birds for me. However, there was a South Polar Skua and a Laysan Albatross. Here are a few miscellaneous photos from today.
