Right now I’m on another United Airlines flight headed towards Tucson. With time to kill, I’m reviewing my year-list and upcoming schedule and comparing it to Bob Ake and Lynn Barber, my two defacto competitors. My current plan is to search for hummingbirds tomorrow and Saturday (Sunday if necessary). Linda will fly in Saturday and we’ll then base out of Tucson, AZ at my brother Bill’s home. Bill arrives Monday morning and we’ll bird Madera Canyon. On Tuesday Bill and I team up with Stuart Healy once again to try for the Five-striped Sparrow in California Gulch. The road closure was just lifted yesterday. Linda and I will either drive or fly from Tucson to Los Angeles on Tuesday. If we drive I’ll swing by the Salton Sea and pick up Yellow-footed Gull…..but I’m getting way ahead of myself. I need to focus on tomorrow. Searching for my number one target in North America – the elusive Plain-capped Starthroat. Stay tuned.
Hello! I’m a fellow birder from Ohio & really enjoy keeping up with your adventures. It’s my dream one day to do a “big year” but until then I’ll live through you. Just wanted to drop you a line that a Little Stint was found yesterday & still seen today near Sacramento, CA. I know you’ll be in Arizona for a bit but maybe it’ll stick around. Just thought you might appreciate the info. Hope you find that Starthroat!
Hi Jason,
Got the Little Stint at Edwards Airforce Base. Thanks for the info. Please keep me posted on any other Eurasian vagrant.
