Nestled in the Christmas Mountains just west of Big Bend National Park is an oasis created by Carolyn Ohl.
Water, food and shelter always equal birds in the desert and boy does Carolyn Ohl have birds. Six species of sparrows feeding side by side. Buntings, Orioles, Flycatchers and more all feeding in her Mulberry tree. The star attraction are the Lucifer’s Hummingbirds. There are certainly more Lucifer’s congregated here than anyplace else in the United States.
Where else can you see two Lucifer’s feeding at the same feeder?
Look I’m tired and tomorrow’s a big day, so I’m not doing Carolyn’s bird sanctuary justice, but you folks have to see this place. Here’s a link and here’s some more pictures.

I think you did good justice to my place, John. Notice one of the Lucifers on your photo of the two is banded (compliments of Kelly Bryan).
Push that envelope, John. You only go around once.
Nice pictures of Carolyn’s hummers! Good meeting you at the Chisos VC. Congrats on that Colima Warbler!
Thank, Fred. The envelope was pushed yesterday at Boot Springs
That’s an excellent photo of a Scott’s Oriole. As many as I’ve seen, I’ve never seen the tail fanned like that. Really cool!
Glad to see that CMO helped you out, we love Carolyn’s place!
